13. Spanking

"Come here, Kelly," he said quietly.

Kelly opened her eyes and turned toward him. John's beautiful face was still utterly impassive and contained, yet his eyes seemed soft and bright.

John outstretched his arms and Kelly jumped up and flew into them with a sob. Hard and muscular, John was like a big tree - there was no give in him. He easily took her weight as she wrapped her legs around him and clung on as if he were a life raft in a rough open sea. He stroked her and patted her and murmured soft sounds while she cried and cried, making his collar bone thoroughly wet.

"I'm sorry, John," she said with her breath hitching.

John walked over to a comfortable chair and sat down with her on top of him, curled into him. "Beautiful girl," John said softly, running his hand through her hair in an absorbing sensation of tactile delight. He pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket and gave it to her. Kelly gasped and gave a strangled giggle when she saw it, remembering how he had given her one in the elevator. Taking it gratefully, she used it to wipe her tears.

"I don’t want to whip you, Kelly. How can your Dom punish you when you have already so thoroughly punished yourself?" John asked her. Kelly's response was more tears, and to squeeze him even harder. John was patient, and he simply petted her and soothed her until she settled.

"Tell me what you did wrong, Kelly," he said.

"I should have trusted you," she burst out, happy to be able to get her transgression off her chest. "We had a connection. I know we did. I was stupid not to remember that. But I'm a naive person, John. I've been caught out so many times believing in people or things, just because I prefer everything to be happy. I can face a fight, and I can stick up for myself. It isn't that. It's just that I like happy endings, and soft furry animals, and I prefer to think of everyone in the world as kind and trustworthy. It's in my nature to be gullible, because I want to believe. I wanted romance, and love and I wanted you, John. I know I'm rambling and I'm sorry, John."

"Kelly, tell me what you did wrong. Exactly," he said, reminding her of his question.

"I used my safe word."

"No," John said. "You did the right thing by using your safe word. Always use it when you don't feel safe, Kelly. That's what it's there for." He stroked her cheek with a knuckle. "I'm glad you didn’t change that word, Kelly. Daisies suit you."

Kelly couldn’t help it, she had to laugh, and then she covered her mouth and continued to giggle. "Yes, daisies are soooo me."

"Answer my question now, Kelly," John said his voice firming.

Kelly inhaled a long breath and expelled it. "I should have trusted you. You were my Dom. I did trust you completely, John. You saved my life in that elevator.
